The Witches in the play "Macbeth" were able to show their supernatural powers. They did it, by appearing and disappearing at anytime(Act I, Scene III). For example they spoke to Banquo and Macbeth and they told Macbeth "All hail, Macbeth! that shalt be king hereafter" (Act one, Scene 3), they also told Banquo" Thou Shalt get kings, though thou be none: So all hail, Macbeth and Banquo!" ( Act I, Scene 3), and suddenly disappeared before they could be seen by the noblemen Angus and Ross(Act I, Scene III). Macbeth saw the witches a second time. They gave him more predictions, and quickly vanished before they by the noblemen Lennox. The Witches were more pleased with Macbeth because he started taking his title a bit more seriously, as cited in Act IV, Scene I, lines 16-22 " Come, Sisters, cheer we up his sprites, And show the best of out delights. I'll charm the air to give a sound While you perform your antic round: That this great king may kindly say Our duties did his welcome pay." The witches knew that Macbeth was going to be given the opportunity to become Thane of Cawdor, before he even knew to give out orders, or learned of the respect they have give him. The witches knew that Macbeth was going to be king before he even thinking of even being king.
